Participation and contribution to the U.N. Global Compact Local Network
The use of the latest international practices to ensure the long-term sustainable development of companies and societies through greater application of the principles of the Global Compact in daily operations was the main topic at the annual conference of the local Global Compact Network entitled “In Step with World Events”.
The conference, held in Skopje on 7 November 2012, was attended by representatives of the business sector, associations, institutions and representatives of the National Coordination Body for Social Responsibility.
As part of the governance structure of the GC Network Macedonia, the establishment of an Advisory Board was proposed and established in 2006. However, the Advisory Board did not fully perform its role and had very limited function in the previous period. In order to revive the network, an Initiative Board was established. Members of the Initiative Board are representatives of companies with a strong commitment to the principles of U.N. Global Compact and clearly expressed interest in taking action to proactively build and promote the network.
Usje has shown strong leadership in the last year and has already provided material and personnel support for network activities. Other members of the Initiative Board include Alkaloid Skopje, EVN Macedonia, Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje and INET. Konekt as Secretariat of the network was providing administrative support to the Initiative Board.
