Annual Report 2012

With the intention of honoring the memory of late chairman, Stamatis Douzinas, TCE decided to sponsor an annual scholarship program to support the academic and personal career path of young graduate engineers. Permanent residents of Beni Suef and Alexandria Governorates under the age of 25 that have graduated from Chemical Engineering/Chemistry, Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics and Communication Engineering or Mining Engineering are eligible to apply.

In 2012, there were 58 applicants for the scholarships with awards totaling nearly €11,908. This year Marwa Samy, who is planning to study for her Master’s degree in Nano-Technology Science from Beni Suef University in co-operation with the National Research Center in Cairo, was awarded from Beni Suef Governorate, while Mohamed Gamal, who is planning to study for a PhD in Nano-Technology Science in Alexandria University, was awarded from Alexandria Governorate. The anticipated results of the project include encouraging Beni Suef and Alexandria residents to participate in developing and evolving the surrounding communities.
