Raising environmental awareness through volunteering
More than 100 Antea employees and contractors including family members and friends took part voluntarily in the initiative of the “Free Actions Forum” to clean up the Albanian seaside, before the opening of the summer season. The clean-up activity took place during the weekend of 22 April 2012 in the area of Shen Pjetri village, Gjirii Lalzit. Antea arranged the transportation of the participants by buses, helped the “Free Actions Forum” to acquire the clean-up equipment required and organized the groups for the activity, which proved to be a great success. After dutifully working and gathering many bags of trash, participants were offered a light lunch before heading back to their homes.
This is one of the first company volunteering events organized and was considered a good step towards enhancing corporate voluntarism at Antea. Given the success and positive feedback of employees, similar events are planned for 2013, incorporating volunteering and environmental awareness.
